Indent & Tab cannot be configured

I've tried to change the configuration of both the tabulator and the indentation setting to values other than the default of 4
But no matter what number I choose, it always jumps 4 steps whenever the tab key is pressed.

What is the intended purpose of this setting when it fails to work as expected?

Hi,

Configure - Options is only for a file without file type.
For a known file type, you need to define it in "Advanced" window of the file type.
