No SFTP Connect[Solved]

Postby Snooker » Tue May 03, 2016 1:16 pm

Hi,

PilotEdit 9.1 / 64 bit on Win 7 SP1

I'm trying to connect to an SFTP-server but get an error message when browsing the remote directories in the Open FTP-File dialog.
A long message tells me client and server where unable to agree upon encryption and MAC algorithm.

I can establish a SFTP-connection via Cyberduck software. So there doesn't seem to be a problem with the server.
I'm a bit annoyed because the sftp functionality was the only reason why I purchased PilotEdit.

The error message tells me the clientIdentifier is SSH-2.0-PuTTY_Local:_May_11_2009_17:22:38
In my opinion this is a bit outdated.
initialDataFromSshServer is SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_6.6.1p1

Very interesting: The username shown in the error message is my local login name not the one on the sftp-server.

Best regards

Hi,

Can you please check the Server Address/User Name/Password/Port/Protocol are correct or not?

Can you re-create the error with other SFTP server?

If they are all correct, we need the following information to re-create the issue.
1. FTP server OS (windows or Linux?) and version.
2. FTP server application name and version.
3. Screenshot of the error message (You can hide sensitive information or send the screenshot to support@pilotedit.com).

Thanks,
Ray

Hi,

Thank you for the fast reply.

I tried to connect to different machines, none worked with PilotEdit but all worked with Cyberduck.

1. External web hoster: Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS (GNU/Linux 3.19.0-58-generic x86_64)

2. VirtualBox on localhost running Debian 8.4

3. Synology Diskstation running DSM 6.0-7321 Update 3

I tried it with firewall on the local machine swithed off -> no success.
The error message tells me that the TCP/IP connection was established but the negotiations about different protocols failed.

For the time being I can use Cyberduck as a replacement as I can drag and drop files from it into PilotEdit and save them directly. Would have been nice not to keep Cyberduck open all the time.

Best regards,
Snooker

Hi,

I will try to create a debug PilotEdit.exe with the new SFTP library.
Hopefully the debug PilotEdit.exe can be provided in 2-3 days.

Thanks,
Ray
